The Computer Concierge Interview

By Interviewer at 06/01/08 10:22

Name of your website?

The Computer Concierge

Your name?

Travis Grant

Your Location (city, etc)

Jacksonville

Please give us a short summary of your website?

The Computer Concierge - In home certified computer service with a smile. WE COME TO YOUR HOME OR OFFICE!!! Computers - Hardware - Software - Networking - Repairs - Upgrades - Spyware/Virus Removal - Jacksonville, FL - 904-616-5427 - http://www.thecomputerconcierge.net

What inspired you to launch your own website?

We wanted to provide an alternative in home computer repair service. We understand that people don't want to deal with overpriced big name Nerd Squad companies. Don't rely on a geek, use a professional.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

1994. Geocities. Lots of sparkling animated .GIFs

How did you decide on a name for your website?

It was easy. We are a full service computer repair company. We do anything related to computers. We are the Concierge when it comes to computers. No problem to big or small.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

We have certified guys that know what they are doing. Period. At Nerd Squad and similar big companies, they have guys making $12 that only have an A+ certification. In the computer business an A+ certification is equivalent to a GED. Plus, we will do anything for customer satisfaction. Bottom line... Our service cannot be beat.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

To franchise the company. We have 4 offices right now. Two in Jacksonville, One in St. Augustine, and another in Ponte Vedra. We'd like to open a few more and town and than expand to the rest of Florida and eventually throughout the entire Southeast.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Every dollar and hour helps our success. If only we had more of both.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

We'd be listed on the first page of every web search. Relevancy is the only thing that gets us listed. We just don't have the budget that big guys have.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

We'd just have to upgrade a couple of servers, but we would be fine. We'd also have to hire a couple more techs.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

The design aspect.

What has been your biggest challenge?

New customers. That is always the hardest part. Keeping them is easy because we always go the extra mile.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Craigslist and google have been the best referrers.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

When we began http://www.thecomputerconcierge.net it began as just a site to legitimize our company. Now it is turning into a selling point.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

The site has been up for years. We will keep it indefinitely unless we sell the corporations. We hope for big gains.

Give us a rundown on your services...
