Panda Antivirus + Firewall 2008 help for those who can't access the internet

If you are a user of Panda Internet Security and are having trouble accessing the internet, this is the post for you.

This tip of the day is going out there to the poor users who can't seem to access the internet and are thinking all kinds of crazy thoughts as they borrow someone's computer to see if they can search for a problem to their own inaccessibility woes.

Well users, Panda Security's helpful instructions lead you to believe that the resolution is an easy one. Their website is fraught with great tips for setting up the wifi settings and firewall stuff.

Only one problem folks, if you can't connect to the internet, how in the world do you download the latest version? That is their first requirement...that you have installed the latest version of the product!

So what exactly IS the tip of the day you ask? I think the answer is obvious since you are using someone else's computer to view this post!

Of course, how you download the update on your friends computer and then install it on yours is an exercise left to the imagination of the user. I also suspect it is another exercise in frustration!

The next logically thing might be to call tech support for assistance. I am a firm beliver that all customer support and service should be done online, and not via telephone. This, however, is my one exception: support that relates to you not being able to get online. Duh!

Now we come to the outstanding brilliance of Panda Security... sell a product that among other features prevents you from going online and not only suggesting people download updates when they can't get online, Panada offers no tech support except online!

A nice catch-22. You can't get online: Go online to resolve the problem!

My name is Ernie from Panda Support and I am the Retail Tech Support Manager here in the US. I understand your frustration with the solution being online, but you're not having access to it because you can't get online to see it.

For these types of issues we do offer phone support here in the US for problems just like these. Basically if you call into the Panda US office's direct line you will be given prompts to select different departments, one of them being Tech Support/Customer Service.

When you call in, before you talk to a live agent you will be offered to hear the top 5 issues that you may be experiencing that will provide a way to solve you issue from the recordings.

If this does not solve the problem, you can always select the option to talk to a live support agent and let them know the issue that you have so that the issue can be resolved on the spot.

The issue with Panda's firewall blocking you from the internet can be solved by following a few steps below:

Step 1: Right click on the Panda head near the clock and close automatic protection - If you are able to connect to the internet after this then you will be able to follow the website that you have posted earlier in this thread.

Step 2: If you are still unable to access the internet after the above step you will then want to call the support line listed under the country selection located here http://www.pandasecurity.com/usa/about/contact/

Just think of this comment as NOT coming from me, who isn't one of the hapless people that don't have access to another computer, Ernie....

    "I can't hear what you are saying, Ernie....because I can't get ONLINE!"

See the problem, Ernie? People can't figure out you have an amazing phone prompted help center in the US or anywhere else for that matter, because their computers can't get them to your helpful message!
