eGrace Creative Interview

Name of your website?

eGrace Creative

Your name?

Brandon Cox

Your Location (city, etc)

Bentonville, Arkansas, USA

Please give us a short summary of your website?

eGrace Creative is a site on which I post my web design portfolio, as well as helpful articles about web development, online marketing, and developing technologies.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I enjoy designing web sites and wanted a way to communicate with potential clients.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

In 1998, I launched my church's web site, www.scottsvilleroad.org.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

My ultra-creative daughter's name is Ella Grace. Since she inspires my design creativity, I decided on eGrace.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I designed my site in a classic or warm/hearthy style as opposed to the shiny, bubbly web 2.0 look.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

I plan on keeping it long term as my online business home.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

Since freelance web design is a personal/side venture for me, I enjoy almost pure profit, with the exception of some advertising, research, and hardware costs.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I don't think I'd change it much. I love the fact that it's self-designed and that it's a WordPress theme.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

My site will only grow at a pace I can manage, since I am the sole author of its content.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

I can't really think of any.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Coming up with fresh content for articles that compete with similar sites on the net.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Thus far, word of mouth among friends. I'm only beginning to explore the world of search engine optimization and link-building.

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

It definitely takes more time to manage than most people realize.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

I think I'll keep it up as long as I'm designing for the web, though I'm sure it will go through many design changes since it's my primary laboratory.

What is the greatest result you can hope for from having this site?

Leads. I'd love to serve businesses and ministries with web design services, so I hope people in need will click through and contact me.

What is your website address?
